Move from SpreadSmart RX to SpreadSmart MAX
Many fleets continue to run dependable SpreadSmart RX controllers, but Certified Power Solutions now offers an updated path forward with SpreadSmart MAX. SpreadSmart MAX is the next generation of material application control and replaces the legacy SpreadSmart RX. It provides expanded visibility, a larger touchscreen interface, improved diagnostics, and stronger integration with the FleetPilot ecosystem.
This page explains how the two systems differ, what fleets should consider when transitioning, and how we support upgrades for both new trucks and legacy equipment.
Let's talk about upgrading!
Why Fleets Upgrade to SpreadSmart
SpreadSmart RX has served fleets well for many years, but technology and operational expectations have advanced. SpreadSmart MAX offers measurable improvements, including:
- A 10 inch full color touchscreen display for clearer visibility
- Enhanced onboard diagnostics and system feedback
- Improved calibration and configuration workflows
- Richer application and operational data for reporting
- Native integration with FleetPilot Connect for telematics and real time insight
These updates make operation faster, more intuitive, and easier to support across an entire fleet.
What Changes When Moving to SpreadSmart MAX
SpreadSmart MAX introduces several updates that distinguish it from the RX controller:
Touchscreen Interface
MAX includes a large 10 inch touchscreen display instead of the button based interface found on RX. The expanded layout provides more space for application data, status indicators, and configuration menus.
Improved Diagnostics
MAX provides onboard diagnostics designed to help operators and service teams identify issues more quickly. This includes system messages and operational feedback that RX does not provide at the same level.
Expanded Material Application Views
The larger display gives operators a clearer view of material usage, application rates, and system performance.
FleetPilot Integration
SpreadSmart MAX pairs with FleetPilot Connect for more complete reporting and real time operational data.
When to Upgrade
Every fleet manages equipment life cycles differently. Many fleets continue to run SpreadSmart RX until:
- A truck is being refurbished
- A control head reaches end of life
- A new truck is being built
- There is a desire for improved operator visibility or data insight
Others choose to upgrade proactively to take advantage of the MAX interface or to align with their telematics goals.
Certified Power Solutions supports both approaches and works with each customer to determine the right timing for their operation.
Supporting Fleets During Transition
Fleets often operate a mix of older and newer equipment. Some trucks may be equipped with SpreadSmart RX while newer trucks use SpreadSmart MAX. Certified Power Solutions supports both systems and helps ensure each truck is configured properly based on the installed controller.
We also assist fleets with planning for long term standardization, including determining which trucks should transition first and what to expect from the upgrade process.
