Barracuda™ is a durable, electronic control system designed for dependable plow and spreader operation. Known for its reliability and straightforward functionality, Barracuda integrates dump, plow, tarp, granular, and pre-wet applications into one compact, user-friendly system.
While newer systems like XDS™ and XDS MAX™ have expanded on its foundation, Barracuda remains a trusted, fully supported legacy solution for fleets that depend on consistent performance during snow and ice control operations.
Reliable Integrated Controls for Plowing and Spreading
Baracuda™ provides proportional, incremental control for key hydraulic functions, giving operators smooth and responsive performance across multiple vehicle applications.
Dump and Plow Controls
- Proportional control for dump hoist (up/down), plow lift (up/down), and plow reverse (left/right)
Spreader Controls
- Three available channels for two or three channel operation
- Open-loop control for auger, spinner, and auxiliary (pre-wet or cross-conveyor) functions
- Adjustable min/max settings and ground-speed or manual control modes
- Backlit control panel and keypad-controlled trim settings (no manual trim pots)
Tarp Control
- Operator control for bi-directional tarp (electionic or hydraulic)
Operational Safety and Power Protection
Barracuda™ includes multiple safety and power-protection features designed for fleet reliability:
- Warning lights for Body Up, Low Oil, and Filter Clog
- Low Oil shutdown and override circuits (requires sensors)
- Body Up limit circuit to prevent hydraulic damage
- Power Safe™ signal prevents random grounds from powering hydraulics
- Channel Safe™ detects and protects against open or short circuits in drive channels
Advanced Hydraulic and Control Options
The system supports up to nine independent proportional channels for precise hydraulic management.
- Configuration mode allows hydraulic trimming without manual trim pots

- GST (Ground Speed Triggered) – starts and stops with vehicle motion
- GSO (Ground Speed Oriented) – automatically adjusts output to match vehicle speed
- Manual Mode – independent of ground speed
- Programmable Blast and Pause modes for efficient material usage and operator control
